Making a Personal Injury Claim
If you’ve sustained an injury or illness that wasn’t your fault, you may be entitled to make a personal injury claim. At Daniel Woodman & Co., Solicitors, our experienced legal team is here to guide you through the entire process with sensitivity, professionalism, and expert advice.
What You Need to Know Before You Claim?
In most cases, a personal injury or illness claim must be made within three years of the incident. When you contact us, you’ll need to provide details of when, where, and how the injury occurred. Our team will take the time to listen to your story, offer clear advice, and assess whether you have a valid claim. We’ll help gather the necessary evidence and work to demonstrate that your injury or illness was the result of someone else’s negligence.
Additional Time Limits to Be Aware Of
There are exceptions to the standard three-year time limit, including:
- Fatal accident claims – must be brought within three years of the date of death.
- Claims involving children – the time limit begins when the child turns 18 in England and Wales (or 16 in Scotland).
- Accidents abroad – different time limits may apply depending on the country in which the injury occurred. Our team can advise on international claim rules.
How to make a Personal Injury Claim
Once it’s clear that someone else is responsible for your injury or illness, it’s important to seek legal advice as early as possible. Our specialist personal injury solicitors will guide you every step of the way:

How Long Does a Personal Injury Claim Take?
Every claim is different, and the timescale depends on a range of factors, including the complexity of the case, the severity of the injury, and whether the other party accepts responsibility.
- If liability is accepted: 6–12 months (on average)
- If liability is disputed: 12–18 months or longer
- Serious or complex injuries may extend the timeline further
No matter the time frame, our team is committed to progressing your case as efficiently and effectively as possible; while ensuring you receive the maximum support and compensation available.
